Univeyor has secured a £5m order September 1st 2004 An extension is being added to the toy company’s Danish distribution centre. Univeyor installed the automated warehouse three years ago with miniload storage, high bay storage, layer picking and a fully integrated conveying system. The intention was to provide capacity for Top- Toy’s future growth. The company has now reached the stage at which it needs to extend further.
The extension will contain what is believed to be the longest sorter system in Denmark at 870m, connecting all the different elements of the 60 000m2 distribution centre. It will be capable of handling more than 8000 units an hour, sorting for up to 80 shops at a time. It will be possible to increase this to support 120 shops at any one time. The system will have an express route, sending the top 50 products automatically from goods receipt area to the sorter system.
Layer pickers already handle the bulk of the order picking, but the system extension will include manual pick stations that can be used at peak times. Univeyor has also been asked to supply a WMS that will control the entire operation. More articles from Univeyor A/S: |
