With an increased range of 300m, the latest version of Erwin Sick’s ultra fast DME 5000 laser measurement system is suitable for all types of storage and retrieval systems, transfer systems and overhead gantry cranes.

By measuring the time taken for a reflected light beam to return from a fixed position, the DME 5000 is able to precisely determine the position and speed of mobile automated handling devices.

Information is relayed to the vehicle control system via a range of standard networks that now includes DeviceNet, Profibus SSI and RS422.

Easy to set up, the unit is available with three distance ranges to suit most automated handling applications.
