Manipulator and product level at all times September 1st 2008 SCM Materials Handling has
revised one of its products
to feature greater
functionality and flexibility. Based
on the Bionic Arm, the new EcoLift
uses the same principles of
movement but completely houses
the actuator in the primary arm.
The unit can be powered
electrically or pneumatically, with
control via an infinitely
adjustable speed handle, push
button or potentiometer.
Previously, manipulators
tended to be hung from a wire
rope or chain – this causes the
manipulator to hang at an
angle when products of
different weights and lengths
are held. With the new Ecolift,
the solid Z-Axis option
eliminates this, allowing the
manipulator and product to be
held level at all times.
The maintenance free
pivoting system and compact
design also allows the units to be
used in clean room environments.
For repetitive lifts, or long runs of
the same product, SCM has
developed the SensiLift addition.
This enables the operator to set the
system for the product and then
allows them to manoeuvre it in a
weightless environment, says the
company. This movement reduces
RSI risks from pressing buttons
and levers and allows the operator
faster and more precise positional
control.
The entire range features
adjustable brakes and 360°
rotation, which allows them to be
used safely and efficiently in a
variety of applications. More articles from SCM Materials Handling Ltd: |
