Large independent materials handling specialist, Rushlift, has become the sole UK distributor for Svetruck following its acquisition of Newport-based Sleabond.

The deal will see Sleabond become part of the Rushlift network which already includes depots in Bishop Auckland, Dewsbury, Hinckley and Slough.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen the company's presence in the North East, Wales and the South West where Sleabond specialises in the hire of heavy forklifts, mainly in steel handling, docks and timber yards.

Peter Cosgrove, chairman and chief executive, believes the acquisition will give Rushlift a higher profile in the heavier end of the market.
