Aisle-Masters shine at Tetrosyl January 1st 2008 Tetrosyl is the country's largest
manufacturer and supplier of car
care brands such as CarPlan, T-Cut,
and Triplewax. It has chosen a fleet of 10
Aisle-Master articulated forklifts for the
handling and storage of its vast product
range in its new warehousing facility in
Chadderton, near Manchester, resulting in
a 30% increase in storage capacity.
Site Manager Barry Rennie had already
discounted using the previous
combination of reach and counterbalance
forklifts in the new premises due to space
constraints. Needing a system that would
provide excellent storage density for the
18,000 pallets in the warehouse, plus
versatile around the clock, indoor and
outdoor operation, Barry was aware that
articulated forklifts would tick all the boxes.
After carrying out an evaluation of all
types of articulated trucks on the market
and taking advice from Tetrosyl's materials
handling supplier Premier Forklifts, Barry
and his team were in no doubt that the
Aisle-Master was the preferred option. He
explains: "After a demo of the Aisle-Master
we visited the manufacturing facility in
Ireland and were impressed with the
standards we saw. The engineers and
management pulled out all the stops to
meet our very demanding delivery
schedule, and I am very happy to report
that the trucks do exactly what we were
promised with no hitches whatsoever."
The powerful 930amp batteries fitted in
the electric Aisle-Masters enable them to
cope easily with an intensive 24/7 operation,
handling over 7000 pallets a week to
process over 1700 deliveries. The trucks
also cope well with gradients around the
site. The racking in the new warehouse has
been configured around the
manoeuvrable capabilities of
the Aisle-master fleet, and
goes up to 7.6m, enabling
every inch of space to be
exploited for excellent pallet
density. Drive-in racking has
also been installed in some
areas, with guide rails to
allow easy steering of the
Aisle-Masters in the
extremely narrow confines.
Premier Forklift's
Managing Director Paul
Connor is responsible for
Tetrosyl's fleet of over 30
materials handling vehicles
in all. He explains the
rationale behind his
recommendation of the
Aisle-Masters: "Reliability is a
key element of Tetrosyl's operations, and
we selected a product that we knew would
deliver in the long term. We had excellent
cooperation from the designers, engineers
and workforce in Ireland, and we believe
that the Aisle-Master is technically superior
to other trucks of its type."
The Aisle-Master range can work in
aisles of just 1.75m, with capacities up to
2.5 tonnes and lift heights of up to 12.5
metres. LPG models are also
available, fitted with 3-way
catalytic converters as
standard, with CNG power
also an option. The company
has a global track record of
reliability, with build quality
and safety featuring
uppermost on the
company's agenda. All the
fundamental aspects of the
Aisle-Master's design, from the overhead
guard for enhanced driver protection, the
ergonomics of the controls, down to the
high quality seating, guarantee the highest
level of operator safety and comfort. More articles from Aisle-Master Ltd: |
