Flash steam recovery saver January 1st 2006 A Spirax Sarco flash steam recovery system is delivering savings of 20% at meat and poultry residue processor, De Mulder & sons, in Nuneaton.
The firm uses 25 tonnes of steam per hour to dry and sterilise animal products. Previously the resulting flash steam was vented to atmosphere - wasting energy and producing visible emissions.
Spirax Sarco designed, built and delivered a complete packaged flash steam recovery system - which raised the temperature of pressurised feedwater from 90°C to 130°C. Prior to the installation, De Mulder had been running five boilers - it now only needs four.
