The Varmatic Lightmaster from SDC Industries is an energy saving lighting optimiser that can reduce lighting bills by up to 30%.

Electronic switching allows the unit to work on two different modes – by pass (the unit is not engaged and shows normal consumption levels of lighting energy), and Supersave (savings to 30%). The unit is fitted with a kWh meter that measures the energy used on the different modes, enabling users to see the savings themselves.

The Varmatic Lightmaster comes in 5 and 150KVA sizings and can be installed anywhere types of lighting such as fluorescent or discharge are used over a large number of hours per day.

The product offers other benefits such as accurate lighting costings and increased lifespan of associated equipment (lamps, cables etc).

A typical example of the product being used in a 24/7, 52 weeks per year distribution warehouse with a 3 phase, 200kW lighting load is a payback of 8 months. This takes the average kWh cost as 4.5p/unit plus 0.43p tax. Normally the electricity would cost £ 86 137.00 using Supersave a saving of £25 841.00 can be achieved.
