Efficient air November 1st 2005 The Multitronic controller from domnick hunter can improve the energy efficiency of most types of heatless desiccant compressed air dryer to dramatically cut fuel bills.
According to domnick hunter savings of up to 80% can be achieved with the Multitronic electronic microprocessor controller. The compact unit is simply retrofitted to desiccant dryers, replacing the existing controller. The Multitronic constantly varies dryer cycle time to maximise efficiency.
Mark Storey, product manager at domnick hunter, says. "Desiccant dryers have twin chambers of desiccant material. While one chamber is drying the other is regenerating, after a pre-set time they changeover. The Multitronic detects any remaining drying capacity and lengthens the cycle time to delay changeover so that the desiccant capacity is fully utilised." Mark explains, "During the extended cycle period which lasts up to a maximum of 60 minutes rather than the usual 5 minute cycle time, no purge air is consumed for regeneration, which is where the energy savings come from."
