Water problems scaled down
July 1st 2005

A 22mm Kal-Guard+ electrolytic scale inhibitor joins Watermatic’s established models (28 to 55mm).

Testing at Cranfield University has confirmed that Kal-Guard+ provides a reduction in limescale on heating surfaces of 80%. As a result paybacks, through reduced energy and maintenance costs, amount to just a few months in most cases.

The energy implications of limescale were illustrated by research at Advantica, initiated by Watermatic and water quality consultant, Aquamedic. Tests showed that just 9g of scale in a heat exchanger will reduce gas boiler efficiency by 17% in heat up mode and 5.6% in steady state mode.
