Saving power at the source May 1st 2008 powerPerfector Voltage
Optimisation gives UK businesses
and government the power to
manage their electricity supply at
source. With the installation of a
VPO unit between the LV meter or
HV transformer and the distribution
board, it is now possible to micromanage
the electricity supply to an
entire site saving up to 22% in
electricity costs/consumption and
carbon emissions.
Voltage Power Optimisation
addresses over-voltage waste
supply to a site. With one
installation all electrical equipment
could be operating close to its
designed optimum and be
protected from transients.
In 1995, the statutory supply
parameters electricity distributors
were required to adhere to was
reduced from
240V +/- 6%
to 230V
+10%/-6% ie
216V to 253V.
In June 2008,
the minimum
voltage will be
reduced to
207V, but the
actual average
voltage supply
remains 242V
(Electricity
Association).
All electrical
equipment operates within the
wide UK supply range, but it will
operate much more efficiently,
consuming less kWhs with less
maintenance if the voltage supply
is optimised. More articles from powerPerfector plc: |
