Lightening the energy bill May 1st 2008 EMSc has further improved its
LightStar range of lighting
optimisers to increase the energy
saving benefits. The LightStar
system uses multiple tapping
transformers that enable variable
impedance through an intelligent
control system. The higher the
availability of natural light; the
higher the savings. LightStar can
save companies between 25% and
55% of annual lighting electricity
consumption by making small
reductions to the voltage. These
reductions are accurately
controlled through software which,
with the use of light sensors,
enable significant reductions in
energy while at the same time
maintaining light levels.
LightStar allows automatic
dimming of Discharge Type Fittings
(SON, Mercury, Metal Halide) and
Electronic Fluorescent fittings (T12,
T8 and so on) in order to maintain
light levels.
The LightStar system can
achieve savings of up 50% on the
total lighting consumption when
natural light is available and 30%
when natural light is not available.
This typically provides paybacks of
between 6 and 15 months in
energy savings alone. Further
advantages of the LightStar
systems is the reduction in
maintenance costs as the
optimisation of the incoming
voltage will reduce the failure of
lighting fittings, tubes and bulbs. More articles from EMSC (UK) Ltd: |
