Monitor cuts costs
January 1st 2004

Eltime Controls has introduced a multifunction monitor that is capable of monitoring a three-phase system and displaying more than 30 electrical parameters.

The LDA-C offers a complete three-phase digital metering system in one standard 96 by 96mm din enclosure and is said to offer significant cost and space savings when compared to the individual components it can replace.

It can be user-programmed through the keyboard or remotely via the serial port. CT and VT ratios can be entered and the relay outputs can be programmed to be either high and low alarm contacts or energy pulse outputs for input to data loggers, plcs or computers. All settings can be protected by a user programmable access code.

The LDA-C has a serial port for communicating using the RS-485 standard, allowing the transmission of measured values to a computer or plc. The RS-485 uses the modbus rtu communication protocol which permits connection of up to 32 units in one network. Optional software is available to allow configuration and data analysis.

Maximum demand over a 15 or 30min period for current and power can be displayed, as well as maximum and minimum recorded values for all relevant parameters. All measurements are accurate to class 0.5, except the power and energy readings which are accurate to class 1 to IEC1036.
