Green refrigeration solutions September 1st 2007 Innovate Logistics is using nonozone
depleting refrigerants at its
distribution centres across the UK.
The company uses an ammoniabased
primary refrigerant restricted
to the plant room, preventing any
product contamination or
unnecessary danger to personnel.
A secondary refrigerant made of a
non-toxic biodegradable aqueous salt solution, such as Hycool and
Tyfoxit, is pumped through the
aircooling coils of the 1 397 219m3
of refrigerated storage space
across Innovate's sites.
Keith Ashworth, technical
director, says "Restricting ammonia
to the plant room removes a variety
of risks that could harm products
and personnel. Its distinct odour
makes detection easier than most
refrigerants, enabling engineers to
locate and rectify leaks before they
get out of control." More articles from Stobart Chilled: |
