Chilled storage expanded May 1st 2007 French-based co-operative,
3A Group, specialises in
dairy products. Based
predominantly in South
West France, it consists of
3200 farmers and 14
production sites.
Due to the high logistical
costs of using off-site
storage at the 3A SAS
division in Toulouse, the
company decided to bring
storage facilities in-house
by installing an extension to
a cold storage facility.
In addition to a controlled
temperature of between 4
and 6°C, 3A SAS wanted a
cost-effective, speedy
solution which didn't require
a construction permit.
Spaciotempo France
proposed a building made
of two layers, built onto a
concrete slab and with a
high level of foam and drip
edge compression sealing
to create an air-tight unit.
The external layer
consisted of a standard
aluminium framed structure
covered with single layer
steel clad wall panels and a
PVC roof system.
Inside this shell, a
hermetic internal chamber
was assembled, engineered
from insulated sandwich
panel side walls and a
suspended ceiling. As well
as eliminating any impact
from the sun's rays, the
external layer created an air
space, offering the
possibility of a ventilation
system between the layers. More articles from Spaciotempo UK Ltd: |
