Low cost tool measures air flow rate through pipes January 1st 2004 A simple-to-use, highly accurate tool has been introduced by PVL to solve the problem of air flow rate measurement in pipes.
Introduction of the Climate Change Levy means that optimising compressed air use has become a priority. PVL believes its low cost ClimaAir tool can obtain accurate flow rate measurements to help isolate compressed air leaks and maximise efficiency of air use.
The portable tool is said to provide highly accurate flow measurements at pressures from 0 to 7bar. It comprises a probe that is inserted into the centre of a pipe through an in-situ ball valve, coupled with a hand-held display unit. The latter measures and displays air velocity, temperature and pressure, then calculates and displays the air flow rate in m3/h.
