Flow meter leads to savings
July 1st 2006 Use of a Micronics Portaflow 300 portable flow meter to measure actual flow rates on a 75kW motor pump circuit in a process application resulted in replacement of the pump with a smaller 11kW unit and major savings for the company. Annual energy consumption reduced from 5698 to 926 and payback was four months.
The company believes that in industrial process and building services applications there are thousands of examples where pumps are oversized. Noninvasive monitoring can identify the potential for significant savings without the costs and disruption associated with drain downs and down time.
Micronics aims to solve most flow and energy metering and monitoring requirements with its range of non-invasive Ultrasonic clamp-on flow and energy meters that, it says, offer significantly lower cost installation and operating costs than alternative in-line meters.
