Energy-free adsorption dryers
September 1st 2006

For processes requiring high flow dry air produced with negligible energy consumption, Atlas Copco has introduced a high capacity, environmentally friendly XD adsorption dryer range.

The XD 10507000 series combines the best of two drying technologies: heat of compression regeneration and a twin-tower design. Employing low energy levels in operation, the full range of XD-S/XD-G models offer optimum flow over the drying bed at the rate of 1050 l/s to 7000 l/s (2226 to 14800 cfm).

The XD-S models use the heat of compression for regeneration and feature dewpoints of -10C to -30C, dependent upon ambient conditions. The XD-G combines heat of compression re-activated adsorption and internal heaters to achieve a constant dewpoint of -40C.

The new dryers are designed to produce quality air with negligible pressure drop and, across the range, operate in three cooling modes: split flow zero purge, dry expansion, and full zero purge.

Control of the units is achieved via Atlas Copco's Elektronikon monitoring system.

With no CFCs involved and a 100% oil-free operation, the XD dryers are an ideal companion for Atlas Copco's ZH turbo compressors range for the supply of quality air at the most stable dewpoint.
