Available from Ingersoll-Rand Air Solutions is a new design of small, rotary screw compressor from 5.5 to 11kw that is said to offer the highest levels of operational efficiency, reliability and value for money through simplicity of design.

Unigy delivers the advantages of variable speed drive technology to smaller users, including light industry, warehouses, hospitals, food handling applications and so on. It is designed to save money by lowering operating costs and is said to be build with an inherent reliability that ensures such cost savings give lowest possible cost of ownership year after year.

Described as ‘whisper-quiet’, the compact unit can be located close to where air is needed, even if there are people in the vicinity.

Based on a new concept called Smart Package Integration, the machine is powered by the IntelliDrive power system, using high speed induction motor with integrated VFD and speed control.

Soft starting reduces stress on the drive and Unigy is said to offer the lowest power consumpion at start up, full load and part load conditions.

The gentle start cycle increases service life, so frequent stop and restart cycles are permitted, without risk of overheating.

To maximise optimum use of the air system, Unigy with IntelliDrive can apply virtual gear set technology in operation, limiting power to 5.5, 7.5 or 11kW duties.
