Portable steam supply centre March 1st 2008 The demand for mobility, in
plant for back up and
emergencies and for planned
temporary hire, increases every year.
Stand by plant has, in many
instances, become a non option due
on the one hand to improved plant
quality and reliability and on the
other hand, capital cost. As these
changes take place, the specification
of plant for safety and quality is
continually improving, making it
necessary for multi-purpose mobile
back up plant from capital plant
designers and manufacturers to be
suitable for a wide range of
applications and standards.
Babcock Wanson produce three
basic supply options for temporary
boiler plant all of which are available
for purchase or rental.
1. Fully packaged original
equipment based on their steam
boiler and thermal fluid heater
range.
2. Slot in factory preassembled skid
mounted plants ready for quick
hook up at site but not intended for
fully mobile use.
3. Full mobile systems of compact
and comparatively light weight
either skid or trailer mounted for
mobile use.
The very latest in products of this
fully mobile option (3) approach is
exemplified in the lightweight
containerised boiler house with all
necessary related ancillary in one
rugged weather proof unit, designed
originally for offshore steam back up,
moving from rig to rig as required
and having a specification to meet
the rigorous requirements in this very
testing environment This option has
become increasingly popular for
land based applications.
One of the units shown here
contains all the elements
necessary to produce 600kg/h of
good quality steam within 4
minutes of hook up at pressures
up to 10bar to suit user needs.
The other is a larger, but still very
portable unit, producing up to
3000kg/h of stream.
Features include Full water
treatment plant and chemical
injection system Boiler blowdown
and drain system Lighting and full
power wiring Condensate return
and recovery systems Boiler unit
of advanced coil design to achieve
compact dimensions and minimum
weight.
